Before I Was A Christian…

Before I was a born-again Christian I was just a casual Christian. I was Christian because my family was Christian and Christianity was a part of my upbringing and culture. I grew up going to church, singing songs, and saying my prayers when I woke up in the morning and before I went to sleep. I was baptized in water as a teenager, had read some of the Bible, and thought I had a good understanding of what Christianity was all about. I was just like most Christians that I had met in my life, Sunday Christians, Christians by association, Christians because my ID Card says I’m Christian, Culturally Christian, never studied the whole Bible but only memorized my favorite Psalm Christian, etc. I thought I was a Christian but I didn’t know what it meant to be a Christian until later in my life.

When I became an adult and left home I stopped going to church, I prayed sometimes but not as frequently and I just started focusing on being a good person. I thought a good Christian was someone who was a “good person” However I didn’t learn until later that the Bible says

Romans 3:11-12
“There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. 12 They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”

There are no “Good persons” by GOD’s standard. A good person is only a good person by his own standard, he has become his own judge, he has become his own GOD and he has decided that he has the authority to determine what is good and what is bad. The Man who thinks he’s a good person is usually the worst person out of all because he’s blinded to his own sin. The Person who knows they are not good is more likely to seek for help and in seeking help they might find GOD.

Here is one example: Let’s say there are two men who are alcoholics: One man says “I’m not an alcoholic, I just enjoy drinking. I can stop drinking anytime I want, I only drink because I choose to. And the other man says “I am an alcoholic and I have a problem. I need help.” Which one of the two men is more likely to live, and which of the two is more likely to die? The man that knows he has a problem will live of course, but the man blinded to his own addiction will die if he doesn’t become like the other man.

This is what people who think they are good people are like. This is the way that I was the majority of my life. I was kind to others, I supported my family, I was generous to those in need, I carried myself with respect, I prayed, and stayed away from trouble, and focused on my goals. People looked up to me and most people that knew me would also call me a good person. By the standards of the “world” I was a good person, but I cut deeply in my heart the day I discovered that the standard of GOD was not the same as the standard of this world.

The Bible says what is highly esteemed among mankind is an abomination to GOD(Luke 16:15). God does not love the things the world loves and does not approve of the things the world approves of. So although the world approved of me, in the eyes of GOD I was filthy and deserving of death. I learned that a Christian isn’t a person who goes to church on Sunday but still has their own goals, hopes, and ambitions. A Christian is someone who has surrendered everything in them to GOD and decided to deny themselves and follow Jesus.

When I was a false Christian I had a journal that I would travel with that contained all my goals and ambitions, and everything I wanted to accomplish in life. The journal was filled with my life plans and each month I was accomplishing more things that were written in the journal. However, the day I became a Christian was the day I took that journal and set it on fire and looked up to the sky, and said “GOD.. I don’t want this journal anymore, I don’t want my own goals and ambitions. I don’t want my own life plan. I want your plan for my life. Let your will be done in my life. I surrender my own will to do your will GOD” From that day on my entire life changed.

Luke 14:33
“So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.”

When Jesus called his disciples he told them “Follow me” and they left everything behind and followed Jesus. This standard has not changed. It doesn’t mean Jesus will physically require you to give away all you have, but it does mean that from your heart you must renounce all you have and put it in his hands. You must be willing to give it all up if he asks for it, from a heart that is completely surrendered to the will of GOD.

A Christian isn’t a person who has their own culture and traditions, and Christians have made all their cultures and traditions the traditions of Jesus only. A Christian has surrendered it all; their tribe, their culture, their possessions, their desires, their goals, their bodies, and everything else. They have renounced everything from their heart and chosen to follow Jesus. A Christian no longer identifies with titles and identities that come from this world, they only identify with the title and identity of Christ. We cannot mix the things of this world with Jesus. Jesus said we can only serve one master (Matthew 6:24).

A Christian is not someone who is defined by his own good deeds. The Bible says that our righteous deeds are like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). A Christian is a person who knows that he is a sinner in need of a Savior. Christians understand that the wages of sin is death and that if they sin only once, they deserve to go to hellfire like the greatest sinner on earth. A Christian understands that Jesus died to pay the death price they deserved for sin, so that they could be saved. A Christian inherits the righteousness of Jesus because our own actions have fallen short of the glory of GOD. A Christian is now a righteous person because of faith in Jesus Christ and him alone.

“Allah” Is NOT An Arabic Word That Means “GOD”

Today I will be writing about the word “Allah” and why I never used that word, and why I think Christians in Muslim countries should be cautious about using the word “Allah”.

As many of you already know I am currently living in Indonesia and in Indonesia the word “Allah” is used for GOD. However “Allah” is not an Indonesian word, Allah is an Arabic word that has been incorporated into the Indonesian language because of the prevalence of Islam in this nation. The same as words like Anggur & Kismis, Selamat & Kabar, and even the names of the days of the week in the Indonesian language are actually Arabic words that have been incorporated into the Indonesia language. And although most of these words present no issue, the word “Allah” is a little different than the rest of the Arabic words.

I originally took an interest in this topic after moving to Indonesia from America and noticing the Indonesian Bible used the word “Allah” to describe GOD. This troubled me because I knew that the word “Allah” wasn’t just an Arabic Word for GOD as some people think, but the word Allah had a deeper history. I have even prayed with former Muslims and seen the evil spirits behind the name Allah come out of people’s bodies.

Have you ever noticed that Muslims never translate the WORD Allah into “GOD”? If you at the Quran in English, French, Indonesian, Arabic, Russian, Chinese or any other language, almost every word is translated properly except the word Allah. If the word “Allah” only meant “GOD” or “The Divine Most High GOD” then why not just translate it to GOD or The Divine Creator? Of course, because the word “Allah” is not only a word, it’s the actual name of a Deity. And that Deity is evoked by the mention of his name.

With a little research what you will find is that Arabic has been around for more than 2,500 years, however, Islam has been around for 1,400 years. Making it clear that the word “Allah” predates the religion of Islam. Allah is actually one of several ancient pagan Deities that was worshiped by pre-Islamic Arabs. Allah was known before Islam as “The God of The Moon & The Stars” which is why all over Indonesia and many Islamic nations you can still find the Moon & Stars symbolism on top of many mosques. Allah was a pagan deity that had “Three Divine Daughters” named “Al-lat, Al-uzza, and Manat” and they were all worshiped before those who created Islam turned their beliefs into a Monotheistic Religion.

Pre Islamic Arabs worshiped many different deities the same way polytheistic religions do today. They had a different God for this and a different God for that. For example: A God of the sea, A God of the Wind, A God of Nature and more. Allah was just one of their many deities, and HE was the god of the Moon & stars as is still prevalent in islamic symbolism. Many use this symbolism without even knowing the truth about its origins. However, in different parts of the word some more knowledgeable Muslims reject this symbolism because of the truth of its origin.

There are some Muslims who like to argue that the word Allah” is similar to the words “Elohi, Eloi, Eli or Alaha” have roots in Aramaic and Hebrew but this is also false and is based on a pretense that is heavily debated and not agreed upon by many scholars and linguists. There is no conclusion there.

In Closing:

The Bible says in 1 Corinthians 8:5-6

“For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords), But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

This teaches us that in the heavens there are many different gods that people can call on and these gods when invoked by their names can give people an emotional experience. However as Christians, we serve the ONLY TRUE GOD who created all things and is above all, and the ONLY way to THE GOD ABOVE ALL is through JESUS CHRIST his only begotten Son.

Satan has many workers in the spiritual realm deceiving people with an emotional and religious experience. And when people call on the names of the evil spirits and devils that do the will of Satan they can evoke the dark power of those deities. And allah “the god of the moon “is just one of the many deities that different religions are calling on today.

Our GOD isn’t just the god of the Moon. Our God created the Moon, the Sun, The Earth, The Heavens and All that is in them. Our GOD is the GOD of ALL creation, and the only way to reach our GOD is through Jesus Christ his son who paid for our debts in his own blood so we could be saved and reconciled to GOD. Put your faith in JESUS alone who is the only way to the true living GOD.

That’s all for today guys.

God bless you all who are in Christ Jesus.

The Spiritual Power Of Prayer

Are you maintaining a consistent prayer life?

One of the first things that the devil will attack in the life of a Christian is that person’s prayer life. The devil knows that if he can keep you from praying he can take you out of the will of GOD.

When Jesus arrived at the temple in Jerusalem and saw the merchandisers selling goods he was angry. Jesus Created a whip, overturned their tables, drove them all out of the temple and said “My Father’s house shall be called a House of Prayer but you all have made it into a den of thieves(Luke 19:46).” The Temple Of God was made to be house where people could pray, and not a place to make profits.

However, do you know where the temple of GOD is today? The temple of GOD is no longer a physical building or a church, the temple of GOD is YOU. If you have received the Holy Spirit, now GOD is in you by His Holy Spirit and you are the Temple.

Let’s take a look at what the Bible says:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? 17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.”

Christians who think that there is power in a physical building today are denying the Power of The Holy Spirit that is in them. There is power in Christians gathering together wherever they choose, but there is no power in a building.

Nevertheless, if Jesus said the Physical temple in Jerusalem was designed to be a house of prayer, and then that temple was torn down and raised in 3 days as the Body of Jesus Christ, then aren’t we who are the temple of GOD called to also be houses of prayer?

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV

“Pray without ceasing.”

The Bible teaches us to pray often and keep on praying and do not give up. Your prayer is working. Our prayers are working in the spiritual world and although we don’t physically see them working they are still working in the spirit realm. You never know the small change that is happening in someone’s heart because of your prayer.

Often times the thing someone is praying for is behind a spiritual wall, and each prayer is like taking a hammer against that spiritual wall. If they continue to bang on that wall with that hammer eventually the wall will come tumbling down and the answer to the prayer will appear. However many people give up on prayer just 1 minute before the wall comes down and so they never see the answer to the prayer.

Make sure your prayer is in alignment with the will of GOD, and if it is pray often with a heart of faith and do not give up.

I once read a book in which a woman told a story about a day she had gotten off work late at night and had to walk home from her job. But on the dark road that led to her house, there was a man in the distance and she could feel that the man had evil intentions. So the woman prayed “In the name of Jesus, Heavenly Father please keep me safe from this man. I have to walk this way to get home.”

The woman then began walking and she walked passed the man and the man didn’t even make eye contact with her. The woman made it home safely and went to sleep. However, two days later that woman was reading a newspaper and on the front page of the newspaper, there was a picture of the man who was on her road the previous night. The headline said “Man Charged With Rape” and the rape happened on the same road of that woman’s house. The woman was shocked and she decided to go to the prison to visit this man. When she met with the man she asked him “How come you didn’t harm me that night? How come you harmed the next woman after me?” And the man looked at her with a surprised expression and said “Ma’am there were two strong and tall 6 foot men walking with you that night. How could I harm you?”

The woman was shocked. She didn’t see anyone walking with her, but because of her prayer, the man was able to see the two angels protecting her who were disguised as strong and tall human men. However, if the woman didn’t go to the prison to visit that man she would have never known that her prayer was successful and saved her life.

In closing.. PRAY. PRAY OFTEN. And Do not GIVE UP. Pray in the name of Jesus and make your request known to GOD. Sometimes the result of your prayers isn’t seen by things that happened, but by the things that didn’t happen.

Thank you guys for reading. You’re welcome to share this post with anyone it might help.

GOD Bless You ALL who are in Christ Jesus.
